ECLIPSE COUNSELING
with Emily Kohls, MAEd, LCMHC,
LCAS, NCC
Where you learn to embrace both your shiny and shadowy parts on the path to reclaiming your wholeness ✨
Hi, I’m Emily
When working with clients, my goal is to serve as both an encouraging cheerleader and thoughtful guide — celebrating your growth while also helping you stretch beyond old patterns.
The name Eclipse reflects the heart of my work. An eclipse is a moment when shadow and light come together, and I believe healing happens in the same way — when we welcome every part of ourselves and step into the freedom of living unburdened, aligned with who we truly are.
I specialize in helping people recover from adverse experiences, whether that be childhood trauma, painful relationships, loss, identity struggles, or the lasting effects of stress and anxiety. I’m committed to providing affirming care for people of all identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences, with particular support for LGBTQIA2S+, BIPOC, and other marginalized communities.
Credentials
I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MAEd) from UNC-Pembroke.
I’m dually licensed as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS)
Specialties

My Therapeutic Approach
I believe true healing isn’t about being “regulated” all the time, but about trusting yourself to experience the full range of human emotions. Together, we’ll honor both your shiny and shadowy parts as meaningful pieces of your story — not to fix or erase them, but to understand their purpose and soften their grip.
Therapy with me is about clarity and integration. We’ll explore the origin of your patterns (and how they once protected you), foster self-compassion and confidence, and build the capacity to respond from who you are now instead of from past wounds. There’s depth here, but also room for ease — this work can include humor, relief, and moments of lightness.
My style is warm and collaborative, while also direct. I offer science-based explanations (knowledge is power!) and concrete strategies so you leave each session not only with empowering insight, but with something you can use in daily life — revealing fresh possibilities for how you move through the world.
Because trauma and emotional pain don’t exist in isolation, the therapeutic relationship itself becomes part of the transformation — a space to practice feeling seen, safe, and supported. Whether in individual or relational work, we’ll strengthen the connections that help you feel grounded, supported, and more fully yourself.
If this information resonates with you, I’d be honored to walk alongside you as you reclaim your wholeness
and begin to see both yourself and the world through a new, more hopeful lens.
